I have read things in several places about how to play co-op in Diablo 3 and I am really confused. Some people say that it is not possible since I'd need another Sony account, while others say I'd need two Diablo 3 accounts. What I want to do is be able is to sit down with my girl, insert the disc, start the game, and have fun.

If this is right that means zero fps games coming out day one will have couch co-op. which kind of sucks. also knack having limited co-op really only leaves sports titles, diablo 3, and injustice gau. so out of the available games who here is purchasing one specifically for couch co-op. I might go for knack.
Gets intense af though. In every co-op thread I always recommend one game and that is Resident Evil 5 . The game is quite cheap (at least where I live) as it's a remaster. There's different difficulty settings so you can choose if you want it to be a challenge or if you just want to have a fun time killing zombies.
This genre of games is still kind of limited on PS4 but you have some options (for couch coop): Marvel Heroes Omega - F2P though. Viking Wolves of Midgard - demo on PS store. Gauntlet - kind of. Victor Vran. and not strictly hack and slash: Magicka 2. Alienation.
