All of the Far Cry side games, starting with Blood Dragon, reuse some or all of the map of the previous game. Like Primal's map is basically FC4, but with some changes to the biomes. And of course, New Dawn is a direct sequel to FC5, on a post-apoc version of the same map. Presumably the next FC game will, likewise, find a way to reuse FC6's map.
IMO the story would've worked well in a linear shooter, but feels out of place in an open world game.
